Here's the deal: OpenAI released ChatGPT Images 2.0, a new image model that can reason, search the web and produce multiple images from one prompt. It's available today in ChatGPT, Codex and the API as gpt-image-2.
The Breakdown:
First image model with thinking capabilities; can search the web for real-time info and double check its own outputs.
Generates up to 8 distinct images in a single prompt with character and object continuity.
Supports aspect ratios from 3:1 to 1:3 and up to 2K resolution in the API (outputs over 2K in beta).
Better non-Latin text rendering in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi and Bengali.
Knowledge cutoff of December 2025 for more current visual outputs.
Thinking features limited to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Business users.
Still struggles with physical world tasks like origami guides, Rubik's Cubes and very dense or repetitive details.
The bigger picture: An image model that thinks and searches before generating is a different category than what exists today. The real shift is multi-image continuity. Producing eight consistent images in one prompt replaces what currently takes a designer an afternoon of regenerating and fixing character drift. That workflow compression is what makes creative teams pay attention.
Here's the deal: Google Labs released the draft specification for DESIGN.md as open source. The format originated in Stitch, Google's UI generation tool and defines how design rules can be expressed so AI agents can read and apply them across tools and platforms.
The Breakdown:
DESIGN.md lets users export and import design rules between projects instead of redefining them each time.
It encodes the reasoning behind a design system, including what each color is used for, so agents do not have to guess intent.
The spec supports validation against WCAG accessibility rules.
Google is releasing it as a draft specification intended for use on any tool or platform, not only Stitch.
Google Labs' David East published a video walkthrough of the format.
The bigger picture: Right now every AI tool guesses your brand rules from scratch. DESIGN.md makes design systems portable the same way package.json made dependencies portable. If this becomes the standard, teams stop re-explaining their brand to every new tool they try. Google is betting that whoever defines the format controls the ecosystem.
Here's the deal: Cursor announced a partnership with SpaceX to accelerate training of its Composer coding models. Per Cursor's blog, the team will use xAI's Colossus infrastructure to expand compute for future model versions.
The Breakdown:
Cursor released Composer, its first agentic coding model, less than six months ago.
Composer 1.5 scaled reinforcement learning by over 20x versus the initial release.
Composer 2 added continued pretraining and, per Cursor, reached frontier level performance at a fraction of the cost of other models, though no benchmarks are disclosed in the post.
Cursor states compute has been the main bottleneck on training progress.
The partnership routes Cursor's workloads onto Colossus, xAI's supercomputing cluster.
The post does not specify contract terms, GPU counts, duration or how SpaceX, xAI and Cursor are structured in the deal.
The bigger picture: A year ago Cursor was an IDE wrapper around someone else's model. Now it needs supercomputer access to train its own. That trajectory tells you where every serious dev tool is heading. The companies that only fine tune will fall behind the ones willing to build from the silicon up.

Bud introduced its AI Human Emulator, a system with compute, storage, memory, a browser, SMS and Telegram access, tool integration and custom skills to autonomously complete tasks.
Odyssey released Odyssey-2 Max, its latest world model, which the company says advances state of the art physical accuracy and is built to simulate and interact with environments in real time.
OpenAI announced plans to scale compute to 30GW by 2030, up from its January 2025 commitment of 10GW of which over 8GW has already been identified.
